The GeoRef File is a bibliographic database covering worldwide literature on the geosciences. The database consists primarily of records prepared from the holdings of the U.S. Geological Survey library in Reston, VA (1967 to date). It also includes all records from the Bibliography of North American Geology (1785-1970), Bibliography and Index of Geology Exclusive of North America (1933- 1968), Bibliography of Fossil Vertebrates (1973-1991), and Geophysical Abstracts (1951-1971). It includes selected records from Geoline since 1985, and from the geology sections in PASCAL since 1982, and more recently, from several state and national geologic surveys.
The records contain bibliographic information, abstracts, and indexing terms. Geographic map coordinates are also available for many records.
