Search Example -- Locating CAS Registry Numbers |
How can I locate the CAS Number for L-lysine and then find preparation information?
To get started, simply enter your login ID and password. Then click "Start Your Session." (1) If you do not have an STN login ID, click "Open New Account".

To search for a chemical substance like L-lysine, click on "CAS Number Search ". (2) Enter the name "L-lysine" in the search box. Click the "Search" button. (3)
Note the search cost.
STN Easy locates L-lysine in the CAS Registry database. To see the detailed record for L-lysine, click directly on the title. (4)
Note the display cost is in brackets [ ].
The Registry record includes the CAS Registry Number. It also provides a wealth of additional information for this substance through hyperlinks to other STN databases.
To access preparation information, use the scrolling list located below the "Chemical References" link. Select "Preparation" and "Synthetic Preparation" from the list. (5) Hold down the Control key (Command key on Macintosh) to select discontinuous items.
Click on "Chemical References." (6)
To see a detailed record, click a title of interest.
