STN Easy for Intranets has been enhanced with a new Alerts (SDI) feature. The Site Administrator can define current awareness searches and have them accessible from a special Alerts page on their corporate Intranet site. Alerts can also be delivered directly to researchers or work groups as needed.

For the Site Administrator:
As an STN Easy for Intranets Site Administrator, an information professional can assist their organization by providing STN® current awareness searches to end users via the corporate intranet.

To set up an Alert, follow these easy steps:

1. Check a preference box in the Intranets Setup Assistant indicating that an Alerts Results page is desired

2. Create an STN current awareness search, using:
        • the STN on the Web Alert (SDI) Assistant,
          • view an animated demo on how to set up a current
            awareness alert using the Alert(SDI)Assistant,
        • the STN Express® with Discover! SDI Wizard,
        • or the SDI command in STN.

To place the search results on the STN Easy for Intranets Alert Results page, one of the email recipients must be xxxxxxxx@stnalerts.org, where 'xxxxxxxx' is the administrator's STN loginid.

If you need help setting up an Alert, please contact the STN Help Desk.

Note: because you will use a command-language version of STN to set up an STN Easy for Intranets Alert, you can create current awareness searches using any of the more than 200 databases available on STN!

For the End User:
To review current awareness results, an STN Easy for Intranets end user simply clicks on the link to the Alerts Results page in your intranet site navigation bar.

STN Easy for Intranets then displays an Alerts page, specific to that site, of all results for the last 90 days. These are grouped by title of the Alert as a heading, and listed by date produced.
