The new Workgroups feature allows the STN Easy for Intranets Site Administrator to create a separate Workgroup page tailored for each specific project team, or other subset of users who need customized access to STN Easy databases.

Imagine a research environment where each project team has its own intranet web page that includes access to the specific STN databases needed to move each project forward.

The STN Easy for Intranets Workgroups feature provides the ability to create separate appearances, search categories, and preferences for each Workgroup, including:

  • Individual, customized page setup for every Workgroup
     
  • Selected STN Easy predefined database categories, or customized database categories, tailored to the specific needs of each Workgroup
     
  • Customized logos, text/body colors, and Welcome text to maintain the group's identity
     
  • Password-protection for each Workgroup page, if needed
     
  • Unique Workgroup charge back codes to track search costs for each group

For Site Administrators:

As the STN Easy for Intranets Site Administrator, you control the creation, content, and capability for each Workgroups page, which includes:

  • Unique current awareness alerts and posted search results for each Workgroup
     
  • Preferences for search modes, e.g., Easy Search, Advanced Search, CAS Number Search, and Patent Lookup
     
  • A new Maintenance Mode to make spot modifications to specific STN Easy for Intranets web pages, including the creation or deletion of Workgroup pages
     
  • Statistical reports to monitor site and Workgroup usage and expense

 

STN Easy for Intranets Workgroups are easy to set up! No programming is necessary.

After logging on to STN Easy, select Setup Assistant under STN Easy for Intranets on the navigation frame, then select the Workgroups option.

The Setup Assistant will guide you through the easy setup procedure to provide Workgroup capability to your research teams from your own intranet!
