Search Page Overview

After you have successfully logged on to STNEasy, the Search page is displayed. On this page, you enter the information you would like to search.

The Navigation Frame is displayed at the left of the page for quick access to the types of searches, Help, and other information about STNEasy. Click the appropriate type of search on the Navigation Frame.

Four types of searches are available in STNEasy:

• Easy Search - Enter terms to be searched in the General Sciences category of databases
• Advanced Search - Enter terms to be searched in a database category of your choice. Terms from multiple data fields may be searched together through use of Boolean operators.
• CAS Number - Enter a CAS Registry Number or chemical name to retrieve the substance record
• Patent Lookup - Enter patent terms, e.g., subject words, patent number, or patent assignee, to be searched in a patent category of your choice.

A Charge to: field displays near the Search button if the Charge Back Code (CBC) feature has been enabled in the Preferences. See the Charge Back Code section for details.

Tip: Since the Refine feature is free, it is often best to start with a fairly broad search topic. Use you browser's Back button to return to the broad answer set, and refine it as many times as you like.
